Welcome to the summer of 2022 … which is looking a lot more like the summer of 2019! Our world is gradually returning to a pre-COVID normal, which provides us all with a wonderful opportunity to experience all that Scarborough has to offer this summer.
Our local, volunteer-led community events and festivals are back after a two year absence. Many are free or at a nominal cost. Bring the family and enjoy!
The Toronto Zoo is open and most exhibits and animals are on display once again. What a great, family-friendly way to spend the day!
Our parks and walking / cycling trails are open and waiting for us to enjoy. We are blessed to have so much green space here in Scarborough. Let’s take full advantage of our parks and trails this summer.
How about visiting a few of Scarborough’s many, locally-owned restaurants? Few places in Canada offer the ethnic and cultural variety that you can find in Scarborough – and at many different price points. SCRO’s “lunch ladies” are starting to visit Scarborough restaurants once again. Look to see a few of our local culinary entrepreneurs featured in our e-newsletters in the coming months. Our local restaurants were hit hard by COVID. Let’s help them get back on their feet.
The Scarborough Business Association’s annual luncheon with Mayor Tory is back after a two year absence, on July 15 at the Grand Cinnamon Banquet Hall & Convention Centre. This is always a well-attended event and will be a great opportunity to get reacquainted in person with Scarborough’s many passionate civic leaders. Register now on the SBA website.
Finally, let’s remember to support SHN’s “Love, Scarborough” campaign. The provincial government has pledged to bring badly needed investments to support our aging hospital campuses. Let’s do our part by publicly supporting the campaign and by reminding our provincial leaders that we expect them to follow through on these commitments.
